# Delete your data

> How to delete surveys and their responses, what Trash keeps, and how to have a workspace or your whole account deleted.

## Delete a survey and its responses

Deleting a survey deletes everything in it: its questions, every response, the files customers uploaded, and its share links.

1. On the **Surveys** page, open the survey's **More actions** menu and choose **Delete**.
2. Confirm with **Delete survey**.

> **Warning: Deleting in Hearsay is permanent**
>
> A survey you delete on the **Surveys** page is gone straight away. It doesn't go to Trash and can't be undone. If you might need the answers, [export them](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/results/export) first, or close the survey instead.

Editors can delete surveys they created. Owners and admins can delete any survey. See [Roles and what each can do](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/workspace/roles).

## Surveys deleted from an AI app

When Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app deletes a survey, it's closed and moved to **Trash** at the bottom of the **Surveys** page for 30 days. Then it and its responses are deleted for good, within a day of that date.

## Single responses

There's no way to delete one response in Hearsay. If a customer asks you to remove their answers, write to [support@hearsay.co.in](mailto:support@hearsay.co.in) with the survey and the response's ID (its short ID is on the **Responses** tab, and the full one is in exports), and we'll help.

## Other things you can delete

## Delete a workspace

There's no button to delete a workspace. The owner can write to [support@hearsay.co.in](mailto:support@hearsay.co.in) from their sign-in address to have it and everything in it deleted. Export anything you want to keep first.

If you only want to stop paying, move the workspace to Free instead. Nothing is deleted. See [Upgrade, switch or move to Free](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/billing/manage-plan).

## Delete your account

There's no button to delete your account either. Write to [support@hearsay.co.in](mailto:support@hearsay.co.in) from the address you sign in with.

If you own a workspace with other people in it, [transfer ownership](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/workspace/ownership) first, or tell us what should happen to it.

## How long deleted data takes to go

When you delete a survey, or we delete your account, the data leaves our active systems within 30 days and our backups on their normal rotation, unless the law makes us keep it longer. See our [privacy policy](https://hearsay.co.in/privacy).
