# Personalised links

> Build a survey link for each customer that fills in their order number, name or email from your email tool or Shopify.

A personalised link fills a survey's [link fields](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/build/link-fields) for each customer, so you know whose answer is whose without asking. For example, an order confirmation email can link to your survey with the order number already in it.

## Build a personalised link

You need at least one link field in the survey first.

1. Publish the survey. On the **Your survey is live** screen, find **Personalised links**.
2. Pick the **Channel**: **Main link** or one of your channels.
3. Under **Fill from**, pick where the values come from:
   - **My own values**: type a value for each field to make one link.
   - **Shopify (Liquid)**, **Klaviyo** or **Mailchimp**: Hearsay fills each field with that tool's merge tag, so the tool puts in each customer's values when it sends.
4. Choose **Copy** and paste the link into your email or template.

Fields marked **Personal data** go after the `#` in the link, where they aren't sent to servers along the way.

> **Warning**
>
> Values in a link are claims, not proof of who someone is: anyone can edit a link. Some email click trackers drop everything after the `#`, so send yourself a test first.

## Use the values

The values are saved with each response. You'll see them in each response's details, in exports and in webhooks, and you can filter results by fields that aren't personal. See [Link fields and piping](https://docs.hearsay.co.in/build/link-fields).
