What customers see when they answer

How your survey looks and behaves for the people answering it, from the first question to the coupon on the thank-you screen.

Customers open your link on any phone or computer; there's nothing to install and no sign-in.

Answering

  • The survey shows your logo, title, description and colours. Required questions are marked *.
  • A progress bar shows Page 2 of 4, or how many questions are answered on a one-page survey.
  • Back, Next and Submit move through it, and the survey tells them what's still missing (This question is required, Enter a valid email address, and so on) before they can go on.
  • Answers are saved in their browser as they go. If they close the tab and come back, they pick up where they left off (unless you've published a new version in between).
  • If their connection drops, they see You're offline. Your answers are saved and will be sent when you're back online.
  • File upload questions let them add photos or documents from their phone or computer, within the limits you set.

The thank-you screen

When they submit, they see the end screen you chose, or Thanks for your response. If you've set a coupon, it appears under Your reward with Copy code, its expiry date and terms, and a Use your code button if you added a website. See Thank customers with a coupon.

If an end screen sends people to a web page, they go there automatically or with a button. Anyone holding a coupon always gets a button instead, so they don't lose their code.

One response each

Each browser can answer once. Someone who comes back sees You've already responded. To allow several answers from one device, like a kiosk tablet, turn on Allow more than one response per device in the editor. See The survey editor.

When a survey isn't available

  • This survey is closed: you closed it, or the workspace has used this month's responses. See Close, reopen and delete surveys.
  • Survey not found: the link is wrong or the survey was deleted.

Language

Hearsay shows your survey in the language you wrote it in. It records each customer's browser language with their response, so you can see and filter by it in results.
